Looking back it seems a big part of why Noah was (wrongly) credited as comedic genius was that he used a ton of references that his viewers simply did not know.
For instance I always felt a huge lot of the fans were always too young to know what MST3K (which he quoted extensively, verbatim) even was.

Though Noah wasn't really the only one doing this. He and many other CA yokels considered MST3K to be their Bible. They assumed that everyone watching their shit has also watched MST3K, and it was considered the greatest of all harams to review an episode that MST3K had already riffed.
I think the only one who broke this law was Brandon Tenold.
