I too have been rewatching some older stuff and now it's kind of funnier, knowing what would happen after the fact. Sometimes he's almost prophetic about things and almost too self-aware with his ramblings.
Perhaps he will really go out the way he's alluded to once. Collapsed on the shitter with his pants around his feet.

I've known a narc like him. She would pass off her flaws just like Spoony does with humor, but would also be serious and it was only after a little time had passed that any of us realized just how messed up she was. It's uncanny.
