My biggest complaint about TDKR is the same with Batman Begins. They push aside the fun villains Bane and Scarecrow for Ra's Al Ghul and Talia who are so boring.

Nolan is anti-fun. It's like he's embarrassed to be making a capeshit film. I don't think Selina Kyle is ever is referred to as Catwoman.
The Nolan films may be technically superior, but the Burton ones are the movies I like to re-watch.

She's called catwoman once towards the end I think

They both almost felt a bit surreal or dream-like at times, which is an odd choice IMO.

Oh yeah, also anti-fun. Also some of the few capeshit movies were the guy in the cape feels like he doesn't belong and you can no longer suspend your disbelief at him being surrounded by armed goons who do absolutely nothing with their guns.

Then again TDKR gave us ridiculous melodramatic Shakespear Bane, so I can't complain too much. I'd watch an entire fucking TV show with nothing but Bane talking.

Yeah, the Ghuls were pretty meh. Although Bane got tons and tons of screentime so I wouldn't complain about Talia upstaging him at the very end. The one who got fucked over was Scarecrow, he only had 10-15 minutes of screentime in Batman Begins and he got tazed in the face by Katie "the worst actor in Nolan's Batman films" Holmes. Although he had some fun cameos in TDK and TDKR.

Bane was by far the best part of TDKR. He's one of my favorite capeshit villains.

Tom Hardy is usually the best part of everything he's in.

Yeah he got fucked over bad it's a shame because Cillian Murphy is so great, nearly all the actors are but I feel his performance has been overshadowed by Ledger and Hardy.

That's another issue with the Nolan films the interesting villains all had anticlimactic ends. Scarecrow like you said, Joker just got arrested and Banes got shot by Catwomen which is played for laughs.

Yeah, I think the only major exception is Mad Max: Fury Road. He's good in it but he's upstaged by Nicholas Hoult.
