Looked into the IDW comics to and I see they did have permission to use the likenesses of the actors, as evident by the story arch "Infestation" So they had no good reason to not use movie accurate looks for the entire series.

Invisible Man was ass. Pure porn for girls about a billionaire tech wizard who uses his invisible suit to harass his ex because she's so special and unique and not like other girls. No real action, no nudity or sexiness at all, then she steals a suit and brutally murders her (innocent) ex husband at the end just because and it's played as this "You go girl" moment.
