So it looks like you can get a permit at 15yr6mo old the earliest. You'll have to take driving lessons of some sort (couldn't find how many and to what extend) and theoretical lessons (likewise unclear on scope).
If you had that permit for six months, during which limitations apply, you can either get an early driver's license for 16-18yr olds or a proper one at 18 and above. Seems like all driver's licences for people under 21yrs of age have some restrictions.

However, for any of those proper licenses you need 30 hours of driving practise with a legal guardian, ten of which at night at least. They can just singn that you did those. No proof required. The road test for any of those proper licenses is a theoretical test, one driving test and this lovely 3 point parking test.

Anyway, you can take any and all of those lessons with your own/your parent's car. So it's going to be no stick shift in 98% of the cases.

One thing to keep in mind, is these are the latest testing requirements. The farther you go back in years the easier it would have been to get one. When I got mine, I got a full license at 16 with only an eye and written test. It's changed a lot since then.
