Affleck's performance as Batman is fine, but he was handed some really shitty material (e.g., the infamous Martha scene). Also, Snyder claims he took inspiration from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, and yet he has Batman kill people. I'm not one of those autists who screeches about Batman's morality, but having him straight-up murder low-tier criminals raises the question; why the fuck doesn't he kill every supervillain that he encounters?

When Burton had Batman murder people, he kept a consistent logic to it; his Batman murders the grunts and the supervillains. The funniest part of Snyder retardation is his excuse is he was "deconstructing" Batman. How exactly is it a deconstruction if your capeshit movies rigidly follow capeshit formulas except Batman has a retarded "I'll kill the grunts, but not the villains who can be reused in our cinematic universe" policy?

The Nolan movies are better than BvS. The former have meme gems, the latter is boring save for maybe one Batman kicking ass scene. Okay, really only the last Nolan one had meme potential but it was so strong that it outclasses BvS right away.

I would rather watch the plane scene on a loop for 3 hours than sit through half of Batman v Superman.

BvS has good qualities that get marred by a shit script and shit pacing (why the fuck is it three hours). I tried rewatching it once and after the opening scene with Batman, which I think still plays pretty well both on its own and as something connected to Man of Steel, I got bored and turned it off.

Nolan's got problems - but at least he's ambitious. Even in his bad movies I can appreciate his sense of scope.

Blame it on Avengers. Movies are getting longer (it's been happening for probably a decade) and it's because they've been following shitty "big seller" trendsetters like avengers and avatar. There's no reason for a movie like avatar to be 3 hours or damn near. But it is. I guess some people think a movie being longer also means it's better.

I still subscribe to the Kubrick notion that you better have a damn good reason for going past the 2 hour mark. I believe the quote was 90 minutes, but I'll be generous and tack on another 15 in front and at the end so you can introduce and tie up everything properly.

I like LotR quite a bit, love it, in fact - I would say it's my favorite trilogy at this point, but the trends it contributed to as well as how it bloated Peter Jackson's ego were both shit.
