My elementary school didn't have computers.

Mine had a single Apple II with a green phosphor monitor. No hard drive, everything booted off of 5.25" floppies.

I don't know what computers they were running in my grade 2 room but they were single piece 8-bit machines that ran 5.25".

You are from Germany right? I was only speaking about my experience in Burgerland. Apple computers were big here with Apple pushing them here if I recall. That was the start for computers here. Definitely no school had a PC running Microsoft products until Windows 95. Not surprising in Europe it was the same regarding Windows.

I know they heavily pushed Apple II in the USA. I think the only place you would've seen one here could've been an office, possibly. But I think even there they were a rare sight.
Some very tech orientated schools had Commodore PETs but that was well before my time and my elementary school was small and wouldn't have had one either way.
IBM PCs with MS DOS weren't exactly a rarity here. I just didn't know anyone that had one and thus have never seen one at that time.

But something to consider is that computers weren't a super novel thing. Absolutely everyone had a C64. So the generation before me all grew up with a computer at home and I personally grew up with an Amiga 500. So I guess it wasn't the school's priority for children to interact with computers because most had one at home or at least one of their friends had one.

We never got a DOS PC because my father said that MS DOS is total garbage and had no personal interest in it. To somebody that spent a lot of time with an Amiga, using Amiga DOS and Workbench, surfing BTX and programming a little in Turbo Pascal switching to MS DOS just seemed like going back two steps to him. Amiga DOS could multitask and was in many regards more advanced than MS DOS. And with Workbench you had a graphical OS if you wanted.
Worse OS, shit graphics and extremely inferior sound just wasn't selling my father on getting a PC and he wasn't that computer interested at that time anymore either. He also thought that Win 3.11 was garbage. Even with hindsight I have to agree with him on that.

Hehehe, in all fairness, absolutely everyone hates those toads. I believe everyone has trypophobia to some extend. Just like everyone has acrophobia to some extend or at least basophobia. Our limits may differ, and I may have nightmares about being in a glass elevator on the 70th floor every once in a while but nobody enjoys those fucking toads.

Yup, that's the way I see it. I guess I've more gut basophobia than acrophobia. Then again, I get legit vertigo under the right (wrong?) circumstances. Like flat roofs with only glass walls or flat roofs on too high of a building. 10 stories high? Yeah I'll stay right in the fucking middle, than you very much.

Never had much issue with trypophobia.

Wouldn't say I ever had issues with it either. There are just things that are unpleasant to look at for everyone. Like the mentioned Pipa Pipa toads. They are ugly toads to begin with but their brood hatching under their skin and eventually flopping out of their skin isn't something many people enjoy seeing.
Or shit like Botfly and Mangoworm larvae hatching out of another creature. Feel free to look that up if you please. Tell me if you found that to be an enjoyable watch. Most people would be utterly revolted by it.

That Junji Itou manga doesn't trigger that in me at all, though. Just like I don't freak out seeing Spongebob Squarepants. It's the "open holes in skin" kinda shit that's just disgusting.
I find the one with the shaped holes in the mountain be be his best creepy story. Yeah, a bit of a normal fag choice but I've read about 90% of his works and it's still the most eerie.

The Enigma of Amigara Fault. Pretty good choice, actually. Just short enough that the premise doesn't become too ridiculous, and most of the body horror is for the reader's mind to conjure up.
My favorite Ito work is probably The Long Dream. Not really horror, but pretty messed up in a way, especially when the guy turns to dust at the end because his last dream lasted forever.
