But isn't he also possessed in the movies? It's been a long time since I've last seen The Shining but I assumed as much.

I guess at least indirectly? What with the spirits helping him out and probably making him batshit to begin with?

It's deliberately left ambiguous in the film. The book has Jack kill himself so the hotel can puppeteer his corpse.

Man, I totally forgot that part. Then again the main thing I remember from the book's ending where the shrubbery animals and the hotel blowing the fuck up.

I was under the impression that it was the house and spirits driving him crazy, not just him by himself. I mean, it's not a stretch to assume so, right?VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 3:53 pmI guess at least indirectly? At least the movie version could go either way. Then again both versions of the hotel have a long history of people going crazy...

The film is ambiguous. Maybe he was possessed, maybe he was insane, maybe a bit of both, we don't know. In the novel it's crystal clear that Jack was possessed.

It's dropped to 4th place on week 2. So is it a flop, or not?Guest wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2017 8:16 pm$18 million and #1 at the box office. Hardly a flop for something they expected to be in theaters less than 2 weeks.

Depends on how strictly you define a flop. But one thing we definitely know is that the studio certainly wouldn't be happy with the amount of money it's making.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2017 6:30 pmIt's dropped to 4th place on week 2.
