Re: TFS got copyright struck again
TFS is much bigger than they were a few years ago, trust me when I say everyone on the internet would be making a fuss about it. Reviewshillusa, boogie, gaming news, podcasts, the news would get around fast and to a big audience.
And those let's say 200k people won't see your movie now because you're trying to get money from some internet welfare stoners who wouldn't even be worth your time.

I checked their store page and holy shit, they don't care about not violating copyright anymore:BenComicGraphics wrote: There ya go. Outright example of copyright theft. No gray area, no legal wiggle room.

This shirt being sold means TFS is legally fucked if Toei ever decided to lay down the hammer, because 'not for profit parody' doesn't mean anything the second they sell a 'for-profit parody merchandise'.

Some of them like the Androids one or DB8 they could get away with as parody which is what I remember their shirts being like originally, but holy shit these new ones are blatant as fuck.

I don't have to tell YOU about the Tim Buckley path. They got swelled heads over the e-fame they cribbed off someone else's IP, and now they act like they own it and can make whatever money they wish from it. If they ever get claimed or taken to court, you can bet it's going to be framed as the "big bad evil corporations oppressing us little guys" rather than a copyright thief making bank off Toriyama's intellectual property.Poonoo wrote:I checked their store page and holy shit, they don't care about not violating copyright anymore:BenComicGraphics wrote: There ya go. This shit stopped being "for fun" a long time ago. All these people are out for whatever shekels they can scrounge.
Re: TFS got copyright struck again
Can't wait to see Taka spin it into political commentary in yet another Twitter meltdown if it does come to that.

you're delusional. People will bitch, and then log onto Crunchyroll and watch the next ep of Dragonball Super anyways. Toei will lose nothingmad bum wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2017 12:15 amTFS is much bigger than they were a few years ago, trust me when I say everyone on the internet would be making a fuss about it. What you guys also need to remember is how much time, effort and money goes into a lawsuit. TFS are small potatoes, and their sales are a drop in the bucket compared to the merch that Toei is getting. They'd only lose money going after a bunch of nobodies.

Need I remind you about the H3H3 lawsuit? Where Matt Hoss is getting shit posted by every persons comment, youtuber, and everyone else for his lawsuit. Also his views are gone except for his lawsuit updates.BenComicGraphics wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2017 3:46 amyou're delusional. I could go on, but I guarantee something similar would happen to team four star.If Toei took them to court they would do a similar crying video and the fans would lose there shit because it would be about fair use which really strikes a nerve with everyone. It already happens to youtube where everyone blames them.
The power of suggestion is very strong in the minds of the 18 and under crowd, not trying to argue about it it's just I know the internet, and the internet loves to bitch, yet do stupid shit like this.

Re: TFS got copyright struck again
PR is something these companies keep in mind. Bring in the lawyers, and people can spin the narrative that you are being a bully. On the other hand, companies still have a legal obligation to defend their IPs or else they forfeit the right to do so. I'd expect some CoD letters to TFS about blatantly copyrighted T-shirts, but not a lawsuit unless Takahata101 responds to the CoD telling them to suck on his boipussy,

Re: TFS got copyright struck again
again, you're grossly grossly overestimating TFS's popularity and how far it will go in the 'court of public opinion'. THis isn't the cold war, and this isn't "mutually assured destruction". They ARE small potatoes, but making your living off the whim that you're too small for a big guy to squash you is not a good way of making a living, especially if you're blatantly on bad legal ground to begin with, and your existence relies on their indifference.
Again, IF there was a hubbub, it wll all be a buncha internet armchair lawyers going "It's fair use because my daddy said so". Please tell me you aren't going to rely on Linkara logic for this.

The irony is they show some of the more blatant lawsuit shirts they have on the store.
