I think they decided to do it with closed doors because of the chink flu. Most events that were not outright cancelled did that around the world.
The old Vince would've still stuffed the arena with employees and their families. Or random wrestlers and Performance Center staff in their street clothes.
Hell, he'd probably see if he could digitally insert the CGI audience from the 2K games.
The only other time they had an empty arena was when Chris Benoit decided to hang it up for good.
They didn't even do it for when Owen died.

She was a less likable Mike Tyson. One trick pony that if taken away from that one trick gets destroyed. At least Tyson was funny.
