I'll explain. If you're a pain in the ass, the people will tolerate you if you make big bucks at the box office. But once you stop making big bucks they all leave you. But, if you're a nice guy you will never be out of work. Even with a bomb you'll just be downgraded from big star to someone who gets regular work. Mike Myers is a jerk, makes a few bad films and he's a ghost. Brendan Frasier made a string of bombs, and took a break from working, but the second he returned he's back to getting regular work. Small roles, nothing special, but the guy has made connections and friends in the industry and he'll never be out of work.

Steven Seagall is another example. The guy is full blown psychopath and people hated him enough he had to flee to eastern europe to make films that are little more than russian mafia money laundering operations.

I remember reading a really smug interview with Myers plugging the movie. Myers was really drinking the Deepak Chopra kool-aid. He also said that he didn't need to be funny anymore, like he was so enlightened beyond that. Yeah...OK....

Never heard about the movie, so I checked a random interview and Myers is there talking about how it's yet another character from his SNL days, that he made as a tribute to his dead father and the Chopra guy? Well, if that's not going to sell, then I don't know what will! To be fair, just because you have a succesful sketch, it doesn't mean you can turn it into a good movie. Wayne's World or Blues Brothers are surely more like exceptions than the other way around.

Sensei Sumo Seagall is an impressive figure for sure. He was so full of shit from the very beginning (and I think he has couple of watchable movies, even if as a guilty pleasure), but he kept going for at least 15 years longer than he had any right to. I think the super cheap movies happened after 2005 etc., and before that, sure he wasn't doing Hollywood stuff anymore (or mostly), but he was still around and made bunch of shit. He must be a very skilled manipulator for sure and probably had plenty of friends who let him get away with stuff - kinda like Boogie.

Myers had The Love Guru. Carvey had Master of Disguise. Both career killers.

Those movies just stand as a proof that no matter how succesful a comedian can be, they will eventually fail hard because they get so out of touch with everything due to them smelling their own farts long enough. And Master of Disguise actually made money, I guess Carvey looked at what Sandler was doing and got inspired by him

Dude couldn't handle the pressure and throat-cutting. He got way too popular way too quickly during the first couple years of his "career". Even the biggest and meanest edgelords still love him enough that they won't dare to be too mean to him. He's pampered as fuck.
Remember the only real time he got in conflict with his colleagues? The famous "Love you my way"-saga? That one instance effectively shattered his mind as if he had the entire Necronomicon uploaded into his brain.

I thought you were joking about that movie making money but it did. It made 42 million on a 16 million dollar budget. But obviously the reviews saying it is shit is it's legacy. But I am not surprised it made money. I remember in school people were gushing over the movie when the trailers were out. Now after the movie came out, I heard nothing about it.
