You'll live. This virus isn't a big deal. Only the (((media))) is trying to fear monger the middle class into thinking it's """dangerous."""

I was legit hoping the virus would butcher the boomer generation so we wouldn't have to pay for their retirement anymore.

They cancelled the South By Southwest festival in Austin, TX, which is some major shit. That's like if Amity Beach in "Jaws" actually closed on the 4th of July. It's millions lost. That's a huge economic boom for the city every year. People come in from all over the world. Austin is a zoo in mid-March. Every rock band trying to get signed and every indie filmmaker trying to score a deal is there and so are the money people looking for the next thing, along with huge crowds who are just there for the spectacle..

But it ain't happening this year. Because coronavirus.

People are bummed.

It didn't take me long to find someone--a very respected film critic, no less--who blames it on Trump.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that I respect David Ehrlich. I don't read any film critics and as far as I know I haven't read anything of his beyond a few tweets. But he is one of those guys that everyone sorta knows. In "Film Twitter", at least.

The South By Southwest cancellation is curious to me partly because it's a pretty big deal around here, but also because there was no public demand for it (that I saw, at least). The reaction is stunned disappointment.

I'm not Mr. Conspiracy, but I do wonder if there was political motivation behind it. Ehrlich's tweet, which I found while looking for opinions about it, brought it to mind.

"Sorry, we can't have your festival this year because Orange Hitler isn't doing enough about coronavirus. Remember that in November!"
