It's... it's been
one episode, dude. Leaving aside the obvious points of letting a new series settle in, how exactly am I
still watching a show that only had its premiere yesterday? Or is it a jab at my watching Picard to begin with, in which case, guilty, I guess?

There are lot of Star Trek fans on this board. You're the only one with any desire to watch this piece of shit, you're the only one surprised that this piece of shit is, in fact, a piece of shit

So unless you want to call them flat-out liars, that is the debunking.
It's incredible how you've failed to grasp this very simple concept for months now, despite multiple people trying to explain it to you

Imagine spending a billion US dollars to be a loser. Could've watched animu and be one for free.

I would describe myself as a Trek fan. Sort of. Problem is, most of Trek is, by volume, shit. Original series is pretty great and then you have bits of TNG worth watching and more bits of DS9 worth watching. And I guess some of the movies, like the one about penetrating the Vger orifice with Kirk's Enterprise. But most of Trek is awful and part of the reason it's so awful is because it's another zombie franchise like Simpsons, Star Wars or Friday the 13th. It's one of those properties that just won't fucking die because it's going to print money forever. Imagine if The Thing had 20 movies instead of the one and the one shitty reboot. I could still call myself a fan of The Thing, but I'd have to qualify that by exempting all the later, shitty movies.
There are probably still some untapped good ideas for Star Trek episodes, but the current people in charge of the license don't have the ability to write episodes like Measure of a Man, Duet and Where No Man Has Gone Before.

[UPDATE: A spokesperson for Star Trek: Discovery reached out to ComicBook.com to correct some inaccuracies in Eaves' account.
The spokesperson stated that CBS TV Studios does, in fact, own the rights to the designs for the USS Enterprise seen on previous Star Trek television series and that they are not legally required to make any changes to the design in order to use the ship in Star Trek: Discovery. The Eaves and Schneider piece that appears in the Ships of the Line calendar is concept artwork that was completed long before the VFX work was done, and any changes made to the design of the Enterprise were creative ones to utilize 2018 VFX technology.
That says CBS TV Studios has the rights to use the original enterprise design. It doesn't say anything about the license as a whole.

It's sad because they could do something awesome with Trek if they were competent, and used the type of storytelling from TOS + today's FX technology.
Like remember on TNG whenever they went to the Klingon homeworld? There would throw up a matte painting of their capital building as an establishing shot and then cut to an enclosed set. They could use CGI now and we could get some shots showing what's going on in the streets. The Orville does this kind of thing brilliantly.

I'd rather have matte paintings and stage sets than more sterile CGI bullshit.

A mixture of all FX techniques is always the best way to go. Like I really like how The Orville largely uses the old ways of filmmaking, but with CGI they're now able to show shuttlecraft flying over beautiful planet vistas and landing.

What would CGI Klingon streets even show? Klingons doing Klingon stuff? That's bound to happen in the episode, anyways.
