And in the reddit threads I linked if you look for his posts he says he was getting help for his low test. In that same post he says he has fuck all muscle mass because his test is so low, which is partly why he can't walk, so lol at that claim of 280 pounds of muscle underneath it.

It was actually the same doctor!

He originally was going by BMR and decided that was the best way to do it as its how he was educated. But I think over time he began to realize that BMR isn't the best way to measure obesity. Lots of other things like body fat percentage, etc, were better.

But by the time I met with him 3 months ago he had changed his tune about weight limits all together. He had recently met a man over 600 pounds who was dying and felt that if he asked this person to get to about 420 pounds before surgery it would be impossible for him to do so. He did the operation and had no complications.

So he explained to me that with me being 100 pounds less than that guy he felt asking me to get to 400 pounds would be "delaying care". even if I did it as a very fast speed, he'd rather get the procedure done so recovery could happen sooner before any of my co-morbidities got worse.

so here we are. Liquid diet has now brought me down from 539 when I started it (due to a bit of a walk-about on food) to 495 today!!! I still won't be at the BMR he wanted but I'll be pretty goddamned close.

So he found a doctor willing to risk a malpractice suit. It's not about the total weight loss, buddy. It's not about if you're 500 pounds vs some guy who was 600. The weight loss is to make you HEALTHIER and to show you're COMMITTED. It's to get you in better shape so you won't die on the table and to demonstrate to the doc that you intend to keep the weight off after the surgery.

Yeah, that "diet" is a fucking liquid one. No way is he maintaining a diet of eating no solid food at all, he is just cutting some weight quickly to get the surgery and did it in the laziest way possible. He will go back to eating like shit again because he eats to hide the mental issues.

Wait, is the liquid diet different from the pre-op diet? Becuase I know the post op diet is liquid for like a month or two afterwards so the stomach can heal.
