You got me interested so I just watched it.
Yes, quite a bit more humorous than one would expect from the strong reactions it had at Cannes or would expect of Danish Spoony Lars "#depression" von Trier.
It was quite alright. Children getting shot is always hilarious so I enjoyed that. Teutonic mastermind Uwe Boll did it better, though. But a good effort still.
What is it with Danes, walk-in freezers and murder? Dänische Delikatessen is likely the only other movie made by a Dane I've ever seen and it had the same theme.
It sure was hilarious, good you liked it. I found the scene with Jack and his girlfriend hysterical; "why you call me Simple? I'm not that stupid.", "Hey, at least you got great tits!"

So what do you think? Did he build his final house then and there or has he been building it all along in a kind of Fight Club kinda way? I think the latter.

It has been theorised that the movie is a metaphor of Trier's career, and considering how egotistical prick he is, I can totally believe he made the movie about himself, he even is on the poster of the movie! Maybe the house symbolized the perfect movie he always was after all his career or something. I don't know and I don't care so much about that or on the whole about muh deep meanings and messages in movies, what I care about is do I enjoy the ride and this one sure was a ton of fun to watch!
That said, I think the final scene before descending to hell, with the house made of bodies and Verge appearing was meant to be surreal and happening inside Jack's mind before/after he got shot by the police.
Saw Taxi Driver for the the first time tonight. Wish Bobby De Niro had managed to complete his mission instead of killing 3 gang bangers and a nig thug. His kill count was a bit lacking by modern standards, but the movie was just a nice watch.

TD is awesome, that gun dealer was always someone I wanted to be from childhood.
