The Living Daylights is a short story. The part that's actually an adaptation of the short story is almost completely faithful, yes. But then it veers off in its own directions.

Yes and no. Dr No, they changed a lot. From Russia with Love is more-or-less faithful. Goldfinger is where they start to get a bit cavalier.

I'm kind of the opposite from Spoony in that I don't get why people praise Craig's run so much. Okay, so he's darker and grittier. And?
Dalton did the same thing, but he still retained the style and was able to adapt to the old format. Hell, he's my favourite.

Craig on the other hand has had to deal with
A) All the bullshit melodrama twists in Casino Royale, which actively ruined that film for me.
B) The awful editing in Quantum Of Solace.
C) The slow as a sleepy snail pace of the Mendes films, and the sheer stupidity of his directing choices(suddenly turning Bond into an old man, making him and Blofeld brothers etc.)

In a perfect world, Bond would do the usual soft reboot thing when they get a new actor and all the Oberhauser-Vesper crap will just never get mentioned again. But I'm inclined to believe that in this age of cinematic universes, they'll try and keep that dead fish of a storyline going or alternatively just start a new and even more boring one rather than go back to the tried and true one-off format of Connery-Brosnan.

The only thing the Craig films did right, for me, was the use of gadgets. Even that they gave up on. By Spectre we were back to having exploding watches and cars that were basically tanks.

I doubt they'll continue the Craig stuff, given reports about them killing Craig's Bond off. That they'll come up with a new and more boring storyline is guaranteed because the Bond writers are hacks

Otherwise, he's a fucking void. If you've got a good script and director he's likely pretty good. But he brings absolutely nothing of his own to the set. He's not an actor I'd ever watch a movie for but also not one I'd avoid a movie for. Incredibly "meh".

There's even people who might like the same film as you, but for totally different reasons.

That's why you're so frustrating to deal with. If you at least had the decency to have complete shit taste you'd be useful in some way to judge a book or movie.
