It's such basic bitch shit that Fagbook established the "It's complicated" status well over a decade ago.
The most popular social media site of it's time decided to make vague attention posting an inbuilt feature without even having to post so long ago, most bitches thinking they are smart doing that shit on twatter these days were still shitting in diapers when it was a thing.

As to when, I think was about 2007. As to why, well in addition to pretty much everything going to shit in 2007, SA kind of lost their monopoly. When it was created most of its users didn't mind paying ten bucks to use a forum because there were no, or very few, good places to post on the internet. By about 2007 there were plenty of good places to post on the internet that didn't require you to pay any money so anybody still using a pay forum by definition had to be cancer
