Much more well-respected as well. You can read one at the beach and nobody will think you're an autistic manchild as they would if you read some Spidyman.

Maybe in mainland Europe. My mum never batted an eye when I read Batman or Spider-Man but when I started reading Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge she was like 'Really? Donald Duck?'

You just have no taste over there.
I'm certainly not complaining about the results (dat Kalevala story), I just don't think most of his colleagues are even half as dedicated.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 4:10 pmThat's one of the things I love about his work, actually. I appreciate craftsmanship like that. In addition this makes his stories, particularly The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, mildly educational. It's perfect for kids, in a way, for that exact reason
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Might be because capeshit never was anywhere near mainstream here. When you say "comics" people here think of Asterix, Tim & Struppi or Fix & Foxy, not Batman. Well, these days it's different but when I grew up the Mahvel and DC stuff was absolutely nowhere or much too expensive for children. Maybe it was different in the really large cities, I wouldn't know.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 4:53 pmMaybe in mainland Europe. The movie capeshit has made it a lot better-known but as far as I can see it hasn't really done much for comic sales. Those are still extremely niche. I've seen more people publically read a mango than any wokeshit Mahvel comic.

I think our attitudes to comics and cartoons generally are more similar to our American cousins than they are to the rest of Europe.
There's a reason why he's one of the top two Duck artists.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 4:59 pmI'm certainly not complaining about the results, I just don't think most of his colleagues are even half as dedicated.

Dawg's output is all over the place. He just reviewed The Flintstones meets the Jetsons. I thought he was pandering to 2000 kids now and out of the freaking blue he does a traditionally filmed review with few skits on a 80s movie.
Next week he'll probably riff something that just came out with 90 percent skits and 10 percent actual review. There seems to be no consistency when it comes to target audience, review subject or video structure.

He's said multiple times that he wants to broaden things and stay fresh(kinda like Jontron). I think they scour the internet for movies and just go with whatever catches their eye.Kojak Norseman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 8:42 pmDawg's output is all over the place. I'm sure some 2000's kid has seen that on Boomerang before it became bland?
I know he's the Nostalgia Critic, but fuck it, it's his show, he could do whatever.

It's not that surprising. Doge lives in the past. Probably wants to keep his newer fans and gradually go back to reviewing whatever shitty, obscure, dated low bearing fruit he can dig up from the 80s and 90s.Kojak Norseman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 8:42 pmDawg's output is all over the place. Re: Doge Walker and Channel Awesome
Speaking of appealing to younger fans, I hate whenever some Youtube reviewers try to use censorship whenever they review a kids movie/channel or whatever just so it could be just enough for children can safely watch.
