Clerks may have sucked as a movie, but Clerks the Animated Series is great.

Yep, was just about to third this. It's a shame the show got shafted and never picked up somewhere else.

Have y'all seen the trailer for Jay and Silent Bob 2? It's embarrassing how bad it looks. It may be the worst thing he's ever done.

Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
I can see where Brad gets the inspiration for his look, he looks identical to Silent Bob (Almost, Bob still has hair)

Wow I didn't know that was being made, it looks absolutely horrible and everyone looks like meth head grandpa's.

While most of Kevin Smith's movies don't stay out in retrospect, I found them quite enjoyable at the time. Chasing Amy and Mallrats where pretty generic even then, but Clerks was great for a movie with no money making it big.
Also: Dogma. Maybe it seems tame now, but it was a great mix of irreverence and critical dialog back in the day.
I think generally that Kevin Smith was very good at doing movies that were still to "edgy" or controversial for main stream productions just a few months ahead on a tight budget. He switched to very different stuff after though.
And I am not even sure if I like him as a director (clearly not as an actor), but as producer or ideas mean he brings a lot to the table.

Every new movie he does is the worst thing he's ever done
He lost weight too late in life. Same with Trashman, when you're old and you've been fat for so long and you suddenly lose weight, your skin doesn't snap back the way it would for a younger person
