For him to make something like Clerks would mean he'd have to possess a circle of friends to help. And can act. He currently has neither.

It is interesting to think about that both of them use friends for almost every role in the movie yet the difference in outcome is massive. Kevin Smith made a good movie and Brad has made nothing but trash. Now even if Brad had access to good actors it would still be shit because he can't write but that's besides the point. Smith wrote loser parts for his loser friends and imagine that, they can play the part. When you start writing about gangsters and executives and shit and all your friends are losers of course the acting will be a disaster. Kevin did get lucky though that he had an interesting roster of friends who were willing to help him make Clerks and that some of them were naturally good actors. I have to imagine some of that came down to Smith being a great director and giving them good feedback on how he wanted them to play the characters.

Oh hell yeah Captain Alex? That's the shit. Helluva lot better than BP and Brad's stuff. And they have the full movie on YouTube, so mad respect to them. Hell on their website they have Bad Black and Alex for $10 separately and $20 together, both signed.
Meanwhile Brad (hate to bring it up again because you know why knowing me) has his shit movie for $25 (one mind you) plus his other crap movies that he made pre Snob aren't on YouTube afaik but instead on his shitty website.

I really like the premise behind Clerks, but hate the execution. These people aren't likeable in the least, and real people don't talk like that. I struggle to think of what his "best" movie is, because they're all pretty mediocre.
