Tyson can be alright sometimes. Once he pointed out that Republicans (under Bush) spent more money on science than the Democrats under Clinton, and when he was on Bill Maher he tried to explain when Leftists are anti-science too and the conversation shifted to Republicans being way worse by Maher and others.

Ann Coulter was right when she said the reason scientists and doctors and outsiders don't do well in politics is because they are too calm and reasonable when you need to be way more aggressive and persuasive. This is why lawyers tend to dominate politics, they specialise in debating and influencing people while academic/scientific types are way too calm and have no charisma. It's why Ben Carson was awful during the Republican primaries, and Ann initially was worried it would happen to Trump like it does to many political outsiders but Trump has enough charisma to pull it off.
