DB(Z/GT/Super) was popular mostly because it came on when people were just getting out of school, at least in the US. Most of my friends, and myself, only even cared about it because we'd get off the bus, turn on the TV, and it'd be on 5 or 10 minutes later.

It stuck with almost all of us the same way your favorite childhood television show or activity does.

Yup, been on TV here as well just in time for coming home from school, having lunch and aired right when I was supposed to do homework. It was also the main small talk topic on the schoolyard next day. It's like watching the ball game just to be able to say something at the office.

Spoony isn't going to see jail time, which is a shame because I think it would be the best thing for him.

He wouldn't have internet access so no Twitter or mindless browsing. He'd actually have to find a constructive way to entertain himself. I can see Spoony rigging up some paper die and running D&D games with other inmates.

Spoony's brother (and former roommate) is a police officer that killed a gang-affiliated arms smuggler. As soon as word of that got out, he'd have his eyelids cut off and his rectum turned inside out.

In my friend's case he didn't watch it because he didn't have cable or satellite. Which was odd because his parents, or his dad at least, was fucking loaded. They had a really nice house with like three or four floors. His room had a fucking en suite. But no satellite apparently. Just terrestrial TV.
