As far as I can tell, it's a combination of insecurity, an inability to think of negative consequences and a desire for that picture perfect married life you hear about. And when you don't share those problems, people get on you. I waited three years before I proposed to my wife, we lived together for about two years before that, and about six months after she moved in, people started asking about the wedding date, and then they start asking why you haven't proposed, what's wrong with her, you're a piece of shit for stringing her along. All while planning their own weddings or seeing fertility doctors.

Each and everyone of those fuckers are now divorced with kids before they even hit 30. Because it wasn't real, they just latched onto the first person to treat them somewhat decently. I think that's why Brad and Jillian split, because they jumped into it without waiting to see if the spark would fade.

On 2.0 I posted a theory about Brad's ex Bianca from his early movies. Somebody pointed out how one or two of his old gfs looked like her and I came up with the idea that the reason he kept proposing so quickly is because he never proposed to her. They were together for about three years, going by her IMDB credits, and then about 2008 she ditched him and he got with Jillian. But he never proposed to Bianca in all that time, so she probably got tired of waiting on this loser who spent all his money making shit movies, buying shit movies to watch, and then he made the Cinema Snob which didn't take off until after she left.

The idea was that he's still chasing Bianca.
