I'm no lawyer, either, but as I understood what Nick was saying (based on the Texas law he had been researching), since Funi came forth with their statement after their internal investigation, itself after the hastag shitshow, it could easily be argued that the decision was based on things that Vic (in this scenario) would be bringing forth as defamatory. Nobody's talking about "wrongful termination". This is also the reason Vic could potentially collect damages based on cons no longer inviting him; that is, they still would have had him if not for the shitshow surrounding the defamatory statements interfering with business relations. As part of a tort. Tortious interference with prospective business relations. Take this for the layman interpretation that it is, though.
