He really is a fucking dumb cunt. I bought my van cash 5 years ago for 5k. Best goddamn vehicle I've ever owned. Had one owner who did regular maintenance on it. I've only ever had the blower motor go out on me and that was a cheap fix.

I don't know shit about fixing cars up but I know a little about buying them. New cars are for spendthrift idiots, women and rich people. You get so much more vehicle for less money when you buy used. It's the same for electric guitars btw. That electric guitar you buy for $1000 at the music store loses about 40% of its value the moment you take it out of the store.

I remember Gibson started turning to shit around the time I became interested in guitars. They had their Studio line out. I tried a couple and they all felt like SHIT and sounded weak. I had a Made in Korea Epiphone SG with custom pickups that I'd bought for around $200, and it both sounded and felt better than the shit they wanted $800 for. Probably had better build quality too. The dude I eventually sold that SG to got a sweet deal.

As far as I'm concerned, Gibson now is just a name on a headstock. If you want a custom guitar, there are better companies out there that will sell you something more personal, of higher quality for less money. If you want a cheap guitar, the used market has you covered with all kinds of hidden gold.

Buying a new car was reasonable when a middle class household could afford a 3 Class Beamer and many cars would rust and basically be fucked after 100k km.
A used car today is usually one that was leased for 3 years and has low mileage, most of them looking like they are brand new.
