I just got caught up on this.

I started revisiting Dragon Ball earlier last year as a sort of nostalgia trip. I decided I was getting too old and got over myself. I really like the original funimation dub, certainly because I grew up with it but I'd sincerely argue its merit.
So it bums me out watching Rial and Schemmel and co. making asses of themselves like this, this is a serious clusterfuck. The faked swattings, the declaring people who don't see themselves as victims to be victims (that girl from the Ouran video), this is such cliquey bullshit. "The rest of your life won't be like high school" is, in my opinion, one of the greatest lies ever told.

DHI is always right. I am just observant but thought she'd get her comeuppance in a different way. When you establish a climate in which it's not just fair game but endorsed to just sling shit at people, true or not, to gain an advantage or get rid of somebody you don't like, you're next.

We had that shit. East Germany under Communist rule. Beginning to see a trend? Right now, there's a court of law in place that fucks those people differently, by punishing defamation instead of rewarding it. But if they had their way, they would do the exact same shit. The consequences would be more dire and the accused wouldn't get justice but a ticket to some coal mine in Siberia but if you're a straight up backstabbing piece of shit somebody will do the very same thing to you eventually - especially when your shit never gets you into a proper position of power.

"You reap what you sow." is a saying as old as mankind and has existed in some way or another in every single culture, every single language for all of humanities history. I don't believe in karma (because that's Plebbit shit) but I trust human nature and the ingrained want for vengeance.

Really do yourself a favour and read the manga. You know I'm absolutely not one of the weebs, nor a guy that would say that the manga is always better. But with DB the manga is much, much better. It's not dragged out as much and a bit raunchier and thus funnier.
It's like the difference that good editing for a movie makes. DB anime vs. manga is like Michael Bay Transformers vs. Fight Club. Worlds of difference.

I count the Faulconer score as a guilty pleasure, tho, so that's been fun.

This whole thing is absolutely wild, consequences and proper justice being dealt instead of lynchmobs on twatter brandishing their own form of justice without consequences is a real nice change of pace.

DB SpergingShow

DB anime is still a pleasure to watch(but that's because the greek dub was on par with the japanese...) and when DBZ came around, it floundered all over the place because the filler really shit everything up and it's where the manga reading is far more preferable. Not to mention, beyond the movies, the animation is absolutely horrid and all over the place and this wasn't a problem with other anime they produced at the time, such as Hell Teacher Nube which had exceptional animation and just like Toei's Saint Seiya, featured better pacing, far better artstyle and a more tightly knit experience than its manga counterpart with an iconic soundtrack that basically made the career of a band(in HTNube's case, B'Z were already superstars in the 90s).

Funimation's dub first arrived over here with Budokai 3, even when the movie dvds came over for DBZ, we had Peter Kelamis Goku and I find him great to this day. First time I ever listened to Falconer's score was this :



It's ok for vidya games but Kikuchi's score is like the second national anthem for us.
