I maintain that the worst damage done to Channel Awesome was shattering Doge, Rob and Michaud's fragile ambitions. It's arguable that Doge is the only kahntent producer that mattered (he allegedly went back to doing NC because CA couldn't stand on its own and needed the revenue) but having the illusion of their media empire stripped away extinguishes the original "dream" of That Guy With the Glasses. Doge's career effectively capped out years ago, but now it's impossible to pretend he'll go any higher or anywhere else. He can do Nostalgia Critic forever and that's it.

That empire seemed like Michaud's idea. If you listen to him in 2008-2010 he had a vision for the site to cover everything and have 100s of producers making videos which is why they brought on so many people. He saw it like a digital TV network kind of like Netflix now but he did a shit job of it and wanted amateurs on the internet to make videos, hence why the company was called Channel Awesome from the get go. It's why Blistered Thumbs existed and Inked Reality was added to the intro of Linkara's videos and some others since they planned on that branching out but it never happened with Blistered Thumbs going to shit.

The death of Blistered Thumbs is probably what made him realise that his big ambitions were never going to work since he was too incompetent/lazy to make it work and just focused on the site. Everyone leaving recently was a blessing since he no longer had ambitions of some big online TV channel so he didn't need them.
