Eh, the site was dead well before that. When they moved to Channel Awesome and deactivated the TGWTG url they already lost about two thirds of their clicks. It did help to remove all that clutter but the most views come from having moved to YT and covering recent stuff. Also it being kids entertainment more than ever. Kids bring clicks.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 12:24 amLupa probably helped the CA site if anything, now people don't have to wade through a bunch of nobodies to get to the kahntent they actually like.

Blipblipblip's death was the end of websites for INs as well. No one went to blipblipblip.tv to watch videos, they watched them embedded on whoever's website. They don't do that with YouTube though.

That's because Blip's interface, search and categorization functions were even worse than Youtube's.da PAC Nigguh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 1:49 amBlipblipblip's death was the end of websites for INs as well. That must have thrown all the internet nobodies for a loop.
Re: Doge Walker and Channel Awesome
But Blip had to be desperate to sell by that point anyway, because they'd been overpaying their "talent", the advertisers were getting wise to how worthless the ads were, and I believe they were locked into contracts with all the CA people.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 6:14 amDisney. Re: Doge Walker and Channel Awesome
BLIP BLIP BLIP never had the pull of youtube. TGWTG and RedLetterMedia were probably the biggest video creators they had on there posting regularly, and I don't even remember if RLM was Blip or if they had a video player that just looked like it.
Blip at that time was competing with old YouTube, which was much different than it is now. Monetization was handled very differently and some people went with Blip out of necessity rather than choice. Just like how some went to dailymotion, Viddler, Vimeo etc etc.
The only reason people were willing to go to Blip at ALL to watch Doge videos was they were ravenous to watch Doge videos in the first place and he would only put them up there. TGWTG shit was never posted on youtube unless it was a fan upload. This is why old dhi people like me would bitch at Spoony and Doge so much. People wanted to watch their shitty videos, but they refused to put the videos on the service where people wanted to see them. TGWTG used to be a way bigger deal than it is now. There was way less competition than there is now.
What happened is TGWTG fucked themselves over much like Blip did. Blip never incentivized people to switch over from YouTube (they never offered a better experience for VIEWERS) and TGWTG never moved their shows onto the platform that everyone could see would remain dominant. It wasn't even an either/or for TGWTG, since doge could have uploaded to both.
Look at where they both are now. Blip is gone because they never gave viewers enough reason to abandon youtube for an identical service. Most TGWTG members are either working a real job, on welfare or just barely clinging to this sad internet lifestyle. People like Marz and Lupa are begging like bums to get viewers and patrons so they don't have to be normies. The only tgwtg members who did well are folks like Joe who stayed on YouTube, or the core Doge crew because they were the only ones who really had a fanbase. Even the TGWTG people who are doing "well" now are down massively in popularity from those peak days when they dominated the review market.
It's like if ClassicGayMark came back and tried to do video game reviews again, and he wound up with 200k subscribers and 50-100k views per video. Yeah sure, that's "good" but the market is so fucking filled to bursting with huge names that he'd be nobody compared to who he was. He used to be THE video game reviewer on youtube and he'd be just another asshole now. Doge's just another movie guy now. This was a long-ass ramble to try to get my point across I guess.
TL;DR nobody cared about Blip except people who got paid by them and TGWTG let their competitors overtake them because they were stupid.

RLM was blip and youtube. They pushed the blip vids on their website, but they uploaded to both.

Re: Doge Walker and Channel Awesome
Well Blip used to have a big incentive over YT: The videos could be longer than ten minutes, up to several hours if I remember correctly, and you could also watch them in HD if that was available. Eventually, YouTube did catch up and surpassed them in those areas, so there was no longer a reason for people to leave the site. The problem is, Blip never made any efforts to change in a way that would provide some other incentive to the user. What they did offer was a shitty ad system that would cause the videos to not play after you'd watch the ad.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 7:19 amBLIP BLIP BLIP never had the pull of youtube.
