Venom wasn't bad, definitely better than Baby Spider: Homo Cumming. It degenerates into CG nonsense at the end though, just two big animated blobs throwing CG shit at each other while CG explosions give you a seizure. No mention of Spidey at all, nor anything linking it to a bigger universe. Woody Harrelson as Carnage is teased, then the credits end with a ten minute scene from Enter the Homoverse. I'm not kidding. It's literally a random scene with no context or reason.

Guess they stopped trying with the Sinister Six movie.

Newsflash nerds, monsters are there to be killed by the real hero at the end of the story. They are not characters themselves, that is not the point of monsters. Idiots.

The shoe fits. Also consider the nerd obsession with casting superheroes as oppressed minorities, see X-Men. X-Men is built around the recurring scenario of Mutant Superhero #352209669 saving a bunch of (straight, white, somewhat normal looking) hugh maans and then the hugh maaans turning around and calling them monsters, freaks, so on and so forth. Hellboy also suffers repeats these scenarios. Hellboy is the only one who can save the world, but is unappreciated and despised because he literally looks like Satan. This is their ethos, that the mutant, the freak, the nerd, the degenerate-they are not the monster, the unwashed masses ungrateful for how these deformities enrich their lives are.

It all a form a fetishistic martyrdom.

I think Stan Lee and Marvel started that "the public hates the hero!" thing. It was the case for The Hulk, the X-Men, and Spider-Man. The earlier stuff DC was doing wasn't like that as far as I know.
But it was a popular theme that resonated with nerdy misanthropic teens. But I hated it because Marvel really overused it in so many of their comics. Even the Transformers was doing it.
