The Yanks here act like this is something new. The President's party almost always loses seats during mid-terms. The only time in recent history that this did not happen was during Bush's first term.

They didn't get their Blue Wave. Consider that a victory.

And Bush only got that because 9/11 gave him a massive approval rating. Keeping the Senate is more important anyway. Trump can appoint all of his judges and the Dems can't do anything about it.

Edit: Also, impeachment is very hard to pull off. Even if the house can impeach him, you need two-thirds of all senators to also agree.

Functionally nothing has changed for the Democrats. They could set-up frivolous investigations but that would be pointless since they've already got an independent probe in progress. They could recommend articles of impeachment but with a Republican senate they're not going to convict. Trump can still make judicial appointments and cabinet replacements and the dems can't do shit, and he can still use executive orders.
