I caught a snippet of The Flash TV show recently. They might've kept Barry Allen Flash white but they made his girlfriend black, his nephew Wally West (who was the Flash on the Justice League cartoon) black and his future children half-black

His girlfriend in the show is also his adopted sister (not sure why they did that), and they changed the nephew to be girlfriend's brother. His dad is played by the guy who played The Flash on TV in the 90s. I think I remember reading that the black Wally West Flash was imported into the comics somehow, and that there were two flashes named Wally West, one black and one white.

I just love how it's okay to change the race of established characters, but we can't fucking do anything with non white heroes that people know;

-Green Lantern Jon Stewart
-Static
-Vixen (with the cool animal powers and the plunging neck line)
-Spawn
Just to name a few heroes who aren't side kicks

Maybe the major demographic is just white guys Hollywood.

I think what happened is they made Wally West black for Jew52, everyone hated it and so they brought the white one back and now there's two of them.

And Blacky West came after fans had to wait a good while before getting any information whether or not Wally even existed in the Nu52 continuity.

(Also I just realized that the Flash as the same problem as Current Year Spider-Man in that there are at least two blokes running around in the same city with the same capeshit name.)

Not quite. With Spider-Man they've got two separate secret identities but the same superhero name. With Wally West they have two different superhero identities (I assume. What even is Wally West any more since I'm assuming he's not The Flash?) but exactly the same fucking civilian name. To be fair to DC they try to differentiate the two by calling the black one 'Wallace' (which is more of a black guy name) but that doesn't change the fact that he shouldn't fucking exist in the first place

I meant more how - at least in pre-Nu52 days - there's both Barry Allen Flash and Wally West Flash. And maybe also the original Golden Age Flash (dunno if he's retired), but at least that guy looks different enough.
