I've always wondered why is he so butthurt about Super Sentai?

Is he upset that his pure American TV show was just a shit version of a Japanese one?

I mean he says he isn't interested in Super Sentai at all, which is kind of stupid; Did he just watch it for the awful teen drama? Not the fights, mechas, kaijus etc? Just sounds like he's a Japanophobe tbh

It's pretty weird that he'd like the even shittier version of something that's already shit, and get offended when people recommend the superior version.

This attitude of Linkara is like the opposite of mine.
In 1980s America when I was a kid, the anime we got was always edited to fuck and poorly dubbed. (A tradition going back to the '60s.)
When I grew up, I remembered those shows and sought out the original, unedited Japanese versions. I enjoyed the uncut versions much, much more and have no desire to ever revisit the Americanized versions again.

This isn't just limited to anime. I grew up with one of the worst dubs for "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" you can imagine. They even replaced jokes with their own shit. It's nuts.

He seems to have a massive nostalgia boner for dem Power Rangers, and I seem to recall him rambling on about how "The show has to stand on its own" or something.
He'd rather make wild conspiracy theories involving the Morphing Grid (which AFAIK only really mattered in the old shows and even then it was barely a thing) than to admit that they probably screwed up with the footage and stuff.

I have the answer to sentai for you.

In college, there was a group of people Lewis was a hanger-on to, and always tried to impress, while they barely tolerated him. One day, they were talking about supersentai, and Lewis tried to chime in, going "Oh, you mean Power Rangers?". The group went from barely tolerant to outright condescending to Lewis, letting him know that, no, despite using footage, Super Sentai is NOT Power Rangers.

Humiliated, Lewis decided to preach the superiority of Power Rangers over Super sentai.

Christ, I knew a dude like that. We were a bunch of science geeks and this one guy knew nothing but liked to pretend he did. If we tried talking about space travel, he'd chime in with some Star Trek bullshit and we'd mock him for it.

That reminds me of the bass player of a friend's band. The dude claimed that the "electron hull" (no idea if it's called something similar in English) of an atom is literally a hull. As in a physical thing. He couldn't explain to me what that hull is supposed to be made off but he vehemently claimed that I was wrong in calling his bullshit because he was taught so in class when he really just misunderstood a simplification to get the concept across. Wanted to study chemistry at a top university no less.
Ended up not getting accepted (actually, couldn't even apply or for anything else for that matter at any German uni for his shit grades) and instead "studied" some social science crap in the Netherlands, actually spending his time smoking weed, doing nothing and moving back to his parents when they were sick of his shit and cut their financial support. No idea what the twat does these days.
