This is probably the case. April takes her lunch money to buy toys and perfume. I have assumed for a while now that Spoony has a mysterious benefactor paying all the billth. Not sure who but likely a family member that doesn't want him moving into their house. They are giving him money not out of kindness but to stay away from them.
