Watching the 2001 Hannibal and I'm really not impressed by it. I've never seen a Hannibal Lecter movie before, but about an hour in and it's been a load of waffling about. I appreciate Hopkins' Shakespearean performance, but it's just lost in a very dull detective story.
Gary Oldman isn't bad as the wheelchair millionaire creep and he could use more screentime. The amount of filler is astonishing.

Apparently the author didn't want to write anymore Hannibal so he just trolled everyone with the last two books.

I watched his scenes on Youtube ages ago actually. I thought he was more effective than Hopkins.
The latter is very watchable, but Brian Cox Lecter is the one I'd legit be scared of because he's so implacable and droning in his questioning.

Scorsese's film The Irishman apparently had its premiere. It's got De Niro, Pacino AND they managed to wheel out Joe Pesci too. I think I'll watch it, even though De Niro is old and hasn't been good in years. Maybe Scorsese can coax one last good performance out of him

Allegedly the CGI de-aging on De Niro is really awkward looking, I'm game to see the movie, though.
