Is there a good way to get the D&D/tabletop experience in video game form?

Neverwinter Nights came out during the Morrowind era so it should be fine, unless Beamdog inserted shit in the latest port like they did with Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.
Afaik the game has also a lot of expansions and fan made campaigns, because it came out with an editor for that purpose.
Or you can play Ravenloft 1 and 2, and Darksun 1 and 2, if you are willing to play stuff that came out in the 90s.

Dark Suns is definitely the weirdest setting. Very metal.

Neverwinter Nights 1 easily has the better fan content support than the second one, but you don't really control a full party as the game kinda wants you to play multiplayer for the full experience.

WotC is threatening us with a new D&D starter box - called Heroes of the Borderlands as an hommage/remake to the klessik beginner adventure Keep on the Borderlands.

It also seems they're going for a sort of HeroQuest-style presentation, in that every item and spell is represented with a card. Certainly sounds like one way to drive up prices and make the box less affordable, and I'm not sure I trust the printing quality of Current Year WotC.

Also the quality art contains way too many NPCs and monsters with deranged smiles, as well as what appears to be a Troonbarian.

That's one of the mightiest jaws I've ever seen.
