And the more I played Tekken, the more I realized it's not really any less "deep" than VF. I prefer the controls in Tekken as well.

I miss simple games. Dead or Alive 5 was like playing a fighting whore simulator. Who needs that many damn moves? Give me a proper Mortal Kombat remake with 6 characters who each have two special moves and a fatality. No meters, no run button, no super-duper-mister-cooper combo breakers or special moves that take off 2/3 energy.

For someone who hates the RPGCodex so much, he is awfully up to date to what they are saying, isnt he?

Every single game that the RPGCodex even mentions, he is there to defend its honor and m'lady the game from those evil codexers, or to bash it if they happen to like it. But again, how does he know?, if he hates them and wants nothing to do with them?

My theory is that he lurks the Codex zealously and the top of his explorer is full of bookmarks with all the topics he follows in there. He must have some sort of google alert like MundaneFag.

Dive Kick is fucking trash. It's the autistic over-sperge reaction in the other direction to encountering something like Tekken, where dudes are showing up with 20 years of legacy skills and basic movement requires a fucking master class.

Dive Kick is a garbage fire and I hate that people shilled that game so fucking much.

It is actually possible to make a fighting game that's easy to pick up but hard to master. No need to go for some meme bullshit just because some fightan games are really, really unfriendly to new players.

Rather hilariously for the current subject at hand, Virtua Fighter 4 and 5 were easy to get into. The movement is all pretty straight forward aside from fuzzy guard. There are only 3 buttons and a lot of combos are punch-punch-punch or kick-kick or kick-punch-kick, shit like that. Or P+K. What's hard about virtua fighter is inputting everything perfectly. To even get started playing a Mishima in Tekken, get prepared to be bodied for 60 hours. Hope you like doing EWGF in practice mode.

Dead or Alive would be a good alternative for people who want a simpler fighter, if the balance wasn't so fucked. I tried watching pro level matches and it was trash. Christie vs Christie or Christie vs that shitty Kasumi clone who apparently is OP. Some characters don't even have full movesets compared to other characters.

Melty Blood might also be a good entry into animu fighters, since at least 90% of the cast uses the exact same move inputs. If you know how to do a Hadoken, you'll probably do alright.

I actually think the inverse is true mainly because unlike in Tekken you can't mash buttons in Virtua Fighter at all to do cool looking combos. I think Tekken is actually more deep than Virtua Fighter is under the hood but getting into it is easier since you can do shit like play with Eddy and mash the kick buttons to do crazy flip shit. There is no such thing as casual Virtua Fighter play, which is why as Kugel said, poser fucks who want to look like fighting game connoisseurs say they like it. And it's also why no one gives a fuck about Virtua Fighter.
