Over here there was even a toy line for Yoroiden Samurai Torūpā, aka Saint Seiya but with Samurai:

You can't really skip over the Asgard arc even if it is technically filler that's not in the manga. All the Saint Seiya filler is woven into the story and skipping it will just make you confused.
Also, the spin-off series Soul of Gold is a sequel to the Asgard arc.
