Even IRL celebrities can have their Demo Reel moment.

I recall an interview with David Schwimmer from back in probably 1997-ish timeframe when he said it was important to him that he's not known as "Ross" in a few years. Take some solace in the fact that 20+ years later he is only known as Ross.
The whole not wanting to get typecasted thing is hilariously stupid. Look at Tom Cruise. He's got very little range and costs a shitload of money. Yet there are certain roles where you'd read it and think "Tom Cruise would fit this role nicely." which is a large part of why he's getting hired. The other part is that he's very professional.
If anything, being typecasted is the greatest thing that could happen to an actor. Just imagine how many scripts there were that called for an awkward beta for some shitty RomCom where they thought "Hey, David Swimmer would work perfectly for this role." and there this shithead goes and tells his manager "Waaaah, I don't want to be seen as Ross!".
Good job, faggot. I only know you from being Ross and being in a Limp Bizkit music video.

Depends on what you get typecast as and what your goals are. You are not making it to the A-List as the go-to beta nerd.
But if there is one role I can imagine David Schwimmer in, it is "a limp biscuit".

Depends. Humphrey Bogart didn't really have his big career break until he was 41 even though he had pretty good range because Jack Warner, the studio head, and most of the directors in the Warner stable thought he could only play gangsters and he could only play support parts. You mention Tom Cruise, Tom Cruise is almost always the lead and almost always rates the top money and the top billing. If you didn't rate all those things, I could see why you'd be bothered about being typecast.

Tom Cruise tried to break typecasting too, but after ruining Magnolia and Eyes Wide Shut he realized he was only good for jumping out of planes.

And people don't realize how one of a kind Tom Cruise is as a Hollywood Actor. Generally the top actors and actresses have a 15 year window where they get top billing and get a couple of blockbuster movies released a year before they fall off. Now they may still act but they get supporting roles and are not the main star and if they are it's lower budget and indie films. Tom Cruise, however has been on top for 30 years. Risky Business and Top Gun to now as top billing in The Mummy reboot to the recent Mission Impossible movies and such. So he obviously wouldn't give a fuck about typecasting since he is always the star.

Cheers was set in Boston. The whole city there has a history of hating black people and wishing they didnt exist.
So it clears the bar for realism.

Friends sucked. Rachel didnt get nearly naked enough and hooked up with The Original Beta Faggot™. (Still to this day I want to punch David Schwimmer in the face).
Phoebe wasnt what she should have been (a whore or a stripper), and the other one wasnt needed at all.
The guy who played Joey was the only good part. The Chandler character had promise, since his job predicted the kind of shithole the rest of the group tried to avoid (and what all of us would end up with IRL).
But he responded by being a cowardly, frustrated cuck.

Anyways, people rage on Fox but it had the best (and usually only) black shows.
Surprised no one mentioned "Martin."

Martin was the shit. It had a little bit of that weak ass “Let’s mock whitey” stuff but was mostly funny. Pam and Martin’s chirps were amazing.
