Re: Movie Thread
It's like they could've prevented these types of issues if they'd just rebooted the whole thing.
Sure, it probably wouldn't have been as good as the original, but it's not like some sequel made decades after the sequel will be any better.

Re: Movie Thread
He allowed them to make it a sequel to Kubrick's film, that's his creative control
Why?VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 5:40 pmIt's like they could've prevented these types of issues if they'd just rebooted the whole thing.
The whole impetus for making it a sequel to Kubrick's film is that Kubrick's film is iconic and very popular, and nobody wants to see a fucking sequel to King's TV miniseries. A reboot would have accomplished exactly nothing

Just like the sequel will.

Re: Movie Thread
True, but at least this way they'll only be sinking money into a sequel nobody wants/cares about rather than sinking money into a reboot AND a sequel that nobody wants/cares about

Re: Movie Thread
I concur
it's just weird to focus so much on Kubrick's film, yet not bring anyone back who actually appeared in that movie or had anything to do with it.
I mean, alright, no Nicholson, but couldn't they go to the old folks' home and get that old-ass bartender to do the creepy stare in front of a greenscreen for a few seconds?

Joe Turkel is like a million years old and hasn't appeared in a film since 1990. You had a better chance of getting Nicholson

I’m shocked there is no CGI young Jack Nicholson appearance.

You could like, not to the sequel if the reboot bombs.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 5:52 pmTrue, but at least this way they'll only be sinking money into a sequel nobody wants/cares about rather than sinking money into a reboot AND a sequel that nobody wants/cares about
(I'd say a reboot had a smaller chance of bombing because it would actually be called The Motherfucking Shining.)

Re: Movie Thread
He might be fond of the role but that doesn't mean he's up to the demands of filming a big budget motion picture in his 90s

It would still count in their projections.
