What are you playing?

Talk about the life consuming, celibacy inducing hobby that is all the rage these days.

Same here, I know things aren’t always as great as we remember but I miss that entire era. I need to give Chrono Cross another go, I got to the near end on a replay years ago but life distracted me. I went ahead and exported a save with all of the characters so I don’t have to do all that again, it’ll be a fun way to experience the story once more.

Chrono Cross isn't flawless, but I have fond memories of it. I was a massive chrono triggerfag as a child. I played Cross and it wasn't as good, but still fun. Very, very few ps1 games with 3d visuals have stood the test of time. The CGI in Chrono Cross still looks great and the in-game visuals are tolerable, which is way more than can be said for most 3d ps1 games.

Everyone went nuts for FF7 back when it was new, but it has aged like milk.

Cross' visuals, audio and gameplay were all top-notch and have held up. The story wasn't never amazing and a lot of the characters are annoying or bland, but that was a product of their priorities, I think.

Every rpg theme was epic back in the ps1 era.

I used to get nostalgic hearing FF7 music but now I hate it because of all the reacting douchebags furiously fapping over the AAA modern remake.

You just can't appreciate the sheer depth and scope of the game.

They just copied from the best.

Can't beat Nintendo if you aren't at least half this epic.

Ah, but the ps1 era took advantage of disc technology to add symphonic music to vidya. It was still early enough in the life cycle of bideo games that soundtracks didn't have the gay-cucked generic background music sound of modern gaymes, but they used "modern" technology to dramatically improve the fidelity.

I can't remember if the ps1 used rf or a/v. If a/v, then that's another significant improvement over older consoles. Even as a kid, I hated r/f because the damn things were fiddly as hell. I could hook and unhook a/vs on a whim with no issues. Could run 3-4 consoles off one television even back then.

The SNES' sound chip had more blast processing. A shame they had to compress shit more.

True, compression is why I can't enjoy "I Love Beijing Tiananmen" in its full glory.

Guestposting was a triumph.

Also:

>don't really no much aside from it having a cel-shaded intro and it being a Diablo-clone, except you control an entire squad of samurai
>think about how you could probably call it "Oriental Dungeon Siege", if you grew up in a place where "Oriental" means "The Far East" (which I didn't)
