The way I see it, Peter went "Stupid bugged radioactive spider bite mechanics, why can't I shoot web? I don't do anything! I'm pressing all the nerves, there's nothing I could dooo!" until he realized he was actually smart, so he built the webshooters.

Except he did have natural webshooters for a while, of course how he got that and stopped having that was a mess

I suppose going "Oh well, here goes another dose of radiation" was deemed too simple.

It would have been better than what we got: Peter turning into an actual giant spider (Not the bidepal, six-arms spider creature like in the past) that gave birth (Burst out of it style) to his human self, i think that was retconned.
There was also the Spider Totem but that was given to Kaine.

I still say that from time to time Comic books can have decent stories but yeah it often goes crazy and nonsensical too often

I guess shit like that happens if you want to re-invent a hero, but are stuck with the same character. They can't just go the tokusatsu route and just make a new incarnation of the same concept.

Well they did try that in the Ultimate Universe but then Ultimates 3 and especially Ultimatum happened, Ultimate Peter (the only sympathetic Superhero in Ultimate Universe) died and was replaced by Miles who failed really badly because Bendis sucks and hands him eveything on a silver platter. They even Ultimate Peter to say Miles was the best, he fucked off and the Ultimate Universe died out but of course Miles was brought to the main universe and his past was retconned to fit into that universe so now he is just a Spider-Man imitator/wannabe.

Let's see if I can recall some classics.

Watchmen is dope. Probably better if it had even less to do with normal capeshit.

Superman: Red Son is lulzy. The ending is a bit batshit though because of surprise time travel nonsense that doesn't actually amount to anything (CommieSuperman does not come from another planet, but from our future. And he's related to Lex Luthor for some reason. Spoooooky!).

The Killing Joke has a cool (possible) origin for the Joker, but the whole story relied too much on shock value. The end where the Joker tells a joke that manages to make Batman break out in laughter is a bit OOC.

DC's big dumb Crisis' events can be pretty stupid. The original one had some hype to it, but then you get to later stuff about multidimensional vampires, weird Cosmic Horror stuff and various alternate universe Supermen (including one that's literally Doctor Manhattan, except more autistic), and shit gets confusing fast.

East of West was fun for me.

Preacher was ok. Not great or amazing, but ok in retrospect.

Punisher MAX had some 10/10 amazing shit in there. The Slavers, the mob wives, the last issue about Vietnam, the issue with Micro (closing the door on that corny bullshit from the older comics) and some others I forgot. Ennis' best work.

Weird Science started out promising but turned into sludge imo.

Usagi Yojimbo is awesome. If you like old japanese samurai movies, you owe it to yourself to read it. That's all this shit is. Ignore the retarded furry trappings. The nigga who wrote this also did a comic adaptation of the 47 Ronin.

I like a one-off mango called Samurai Legend. Go look it up if you want. It's a story about Yagyu Jubei.

Priest is great. Shame it's unfinished, but what's there is amazing.

The recent Gundam manga retelling the UC story is excellent. The art is far better than the older comics/mangos and it's better than the original animation as well.

Watchmen is good.

Transmetropolitan is good. Not life-changing, but good.

That "Last of the Wreckers" transmorphers shit was breddy ok for a transforming robots comic. It's sort of like the film "Dredd."
