I'm not a Warhammer fag but a couple of you know the ropes around the franchise, plus it has a mixed reception so... I'm not sure.

According to the reviews only 2 Warbands (armies i suppose?) are free to play, and you will have to buy all the remaining ones as overpriced dlcs.
It's the same scummy fake free operation that Crapcom Arcade Stadium is based upon:
The trailer says "free download", when in reality you will only get 1 free ROM (probably the shittiest shooter of the collection) and you will have to spend more than 40 dollars/Euros to buy the rest.

"Warband" is the general Warhammer lingo for a faction/army in a smaller-scale game, like Mordheim. I assume the free ones are the Sigmarines and then either the Khorne blokes or whatever the hell they call Orcs this week. Orruks or something I guess.
And it didn't surprise me that a "free" game with "Online" in the title would have scrummy ways to get your cash, anyways.

Though even good Warhammer games can have silly DLC, particularly 40k ones where Space Marines are playable, since you can bet your ass on half the DLC being the different Space Marine chapters (because Space Marine chapters make up basically half of the playable armies in the wargame).
