The Master System is still very popular there (TecToy recently released a new portable model). The Genesis outperformed it significantly though (and still does). The reason old Sega consoles are so popular there is that Brazil has ridiculous tariffs or something so imported stuff becomes insanely expensive. Sega were the first ones to whore out their license to a local manufacturer so all their cheap-to-produce consoles without moving parts are the king.

I never really understood the appeal of the master system. The genesis was a niche thing in the parts of america where I lived, let alone the master system. So I never did find out what the good master system games were.

I mean you can't emulate two of those consoyles reliably but, uh, the thought counts.

Odd how that works. Apparently Sonic 1 for MS came out months after the Genesis port.
