Metokur has a very different fanbase from the CA autists though. There was never much chance of the "haters" having an effect there. In Lupa's case though, it didn't work because she threw a bitchfit about nothing. Also Doge's new core fanbase is all 13 and doesn't know granny Lupa.

This is a good point. She hasn't been on CA in like 3 years. That's plenty of time for Doge to have gotten more fans who probably exclusively watch Nostalgia Critic and don't even know about the anniversary movies.
