Watching 5 deadly venoms. I jumped on this dvd because it had a commentary, but sadly the track is mostly shit about production or trivia about Shaw brothers generally. I was kind of hoping for the sort of analysis you get on kurosawa movies. Oh well. It's a fun movie anyway.

I watched Along.with.the.Gods.The.Two.Worlds yesterday, Some weird korean afterlife adventure movie.

It was pretty entertaining and I wanted to see where it went but in the end I was pretty disappointed with

the movie's message basically comes down to: lying your ass off is alright (in buddism I guess?). To me that is just a wrong world/lifeview so I was wondering if buddist are really that shallow or if the movie misrepresents them

Murder On The Orient Express was so mediocre it was offensive. Boring, no action, terrible accents, and Daisy Ridley doing her retard stares next to a goddess like Penelope Cruz. Oh yeah, everyone on the train killed the guy because he kidnapped the Lindburgh baby. Shh, don't tell a soul!

I still don't understand why Hollywood made another adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. Sidney Lumet's adaptation from the 1970s is considered a classic and Agatha Christie isn't in vogue right now. Is Lumet's film drastically different from the source material?

It's been a long time but not really, no.
I've looked up the new one and Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot looks absolutely retarded with that comical beard. What a fucking disgrace. Plus, I'm not watching anything with that terribly Ridley cunt. She's beyond awful.

Eww. I didn't realize Flatty McFlatchest was in it. Will be skipping it for sure, then.

Only thing I'd see her cast correctly would be as Zardoz.

Yeah, way to take a great actor (Branaugh) and ruin him with a fucking awful costume.

Sounds like it's not cut and dried, but there are some lines about how liars lead hollow and empty lives.

Fundamental to buddhism seems to be the idea of causing harm, or at least that's the interpretation now. One presumes it's more about the intent of the lie. One of the posters goes godwin to explain how they believe the buddha would have lied to protect the 11 quintillion from nazis.

The moment you can't judge for yourself on how to deal with telling the truth and having to ask for a guideline, you've soundly stepped into total cunt territory.
A lie isn't the same in any situation. You damn well know what the best course of action is in any given situation you'd contemplate lying in. Pro tip: if that decision is really easy for you in favour of lying, you're very likely a cunt. No reason to try and be all Buddhist about that.
