Re: Movie Thread
I'm assuming there's a reason they don't call them Child's Play anymore? Anyway, since Bride of Chucky they've all been that post-modern too-hip-to-be-scary comedy crap.

Re: Movie Thread
Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky bring the series back to horror, but these movies have never been particularly scary anyway. I guess Don Mancini (creator, director and writer of the series) felt the need to move more back into horror territory since Seed of Chucky went too far into comedy territory and failed as a result. Who the fuck thinks Redman is a good actor at all? Nigga needs to be shot.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2017 8:54 pmI'm assuming there's a reason they don't call them Child's Play anymore? Anyway, the reason it's not called Child's Play anymore depends upon who you ask. Bride of Chucky was a soft reboot, taking the series into the more comedy direction, so perhaps Don Mancini thought that a re-branding of the franchise was appropriate.

Re: Movie Thread
The Revenge Of Frankenstein was an improvement: pacier and with more character development for the leads. Cushing's icier take on the role was perhaps less interesting, but he does icy so well you can hardly complain.
Loved the twist of the Monster(which I shan't spoil).

Child's Play 2 was better than its predecessor in every way: Vincent was a better actor, Chucky was funnier, the budget was bigger, the pacing was more fluid.
And the teacher kill was legendary.

Lately I watched Kingsman: The Golden Circle and it was pretty cool.

I watched Paddington 2. I don't know what it says about me that my two favourite cinema experiences this year have been kids films (this and My Life as a Courgette) but I'm not ashamed.
Re: Movie Thread
Finally watched Hateful Eight. Meh. It's pretty, but it's a bunch of old weirdos in a room trying to talk hip, like Mallrats in the 1800s. Zoe Bell is in it for a minute looking pretty cute but old. Oddly, there wasn't any foot stuff in it.
Why people think Tarantino could make a Bond movie, I don't know. If he made Casino Royal it would have been Pierce Brosnan sucking blood off Vesper's toes instead of her finger. Oh, and all the talking.
