I also think about how the first movie would probably be trashed today by the anti-woke Youtubers. They have no eye for nuance so Marion's assertiveness would be something that they would complain about. She drinks big guys under the table when we first meet her and is a bitch to Indiana Jones, who apparently had sex with her when she was a teenager (Marion: "I was a child! I was in love! It was wrong and you knew it!"). There would be two-hour-long videos made about how wrong this movie is.
It would, so would Ripley in Aliens and so would Sarah Connor in Terminator 2. Those idiots think Poor Things is a girlboss movie.

The first two Indiana Jones movie would be classed as problematic from all sides if they were realised today. Too violent, racist, age-gap relationship, misogyny, Spielberg is jewish so pro-israel, baddies are indians and not the british colonizers all kinds of yikes in current year

Indiana Jones made Miyazaki mad, Indy for the win. Also the franchise gave us the funniest Sean Connery line ever.

(Seriously, I still don't know why George made Temple of Doom a prequel.)
Because Indy's character arc involves him coming to appreciate the artifacts for their inherent cultural value, rather than how much they're worth on the market.

It ties in nicely with the opening of Last Crusade, when he tries earnestly to protect the Cross, only to have it fall into the wrong hands regardless. He takes his cue from those men and becomes like them.

After Doom, you can transition seamlessly into the present-day events of Crusade, with him protecting the Cross again.

True. There are two main types of modern reviews of "Temple Doom".

"This movie is bad and racist"
"This movie is good, but you have to overlook the racism".

The indians were nice and sympathetic in Temple compared to the filthy, shit eating phone scammers we know them as today.

Yeah, most of the racism seems to be in the dinner banquet scene that makes a bunch of silly jokes about Indian cuisine. I can SORTA understand the accusations there. It's a scene that makes an "other" of Indians. "They eat monkey brains and live eels?"

Otherwise, I don't really see it. Unless a white hero vs. an Indian villain is instantly racist to you.

One thing we haven't mentioned yet is that wokes also tend to hate Kate Capshaw in "Temple of Doom" because she's a screaming, helpless female. But that's a great touch in this movie. She's a contrast to Marion.

I mean, have you seen the shit she goes through? Especially that scene featuring just about every type of insect on Earth?

Mark Ruffalo is the girlboss.
Jokes aside, i've read the plot on Kikepedia and the movie seems to be the usual "men bad, sluts and socialism good" kind of deal, so i guess they had to throw the "girlboss" buzzword in to stretch their videos.

By the same woke idiots who will turn a blind eye when a movie openly shits on white people.
