She drinks big guys under the table when we first meet her and is a bitch to Indiana Jones, who apparently had sex with her when she was a teenager (Marion: "I was a child! I was in love! It was wrong and you knew it!"). There would be two-hour-long videos made about how wrong this movie is.

Definitely a movie that would anger the anti-woke crowd, because a woman drinks and has a good reason to be a bitch - being pumped and dumped.

I'd trash it, but only because it's duller than all the other Indiana Jones films (excepting Dial of Destiny, obviously). Even as a kid, I invariably skipped it in favor of Doom or Crusade. The character is much better fleshed out in those later films, and you root for him wanting to save his friends and family.

In the first film, there's no emotional core to any of it. They try to make him a bit more James Bond in that one, but without the necessary suave charm. Same mistake as Daniel Craig's Bond. The sequels rectify it by playing more into Harrison Ford's dry wit and earnest heroism. You really believe he loves history in those later films, and it's endearing. In the first, it's more that he just happens to not be a completely nasty piece of work like Belloq. Shrug.

I did say excepting Dial of Destiny. It's hard to top the abject boredom I felt in the Cairo sequences, but somehow those glorious bastards did it

(Seriously, I still don't know why George made Temple of Doom a prequel.)

Oh, I love the shit out of "Temple of Doom". I've never related more to Red Letter Media than when Mike and Rich reveal that they, too, love this movie that they spent most of their lives being told is bad. I feel the same way. Every minute of "Temple of Doom" is imprinted on my soul and has been for decades.

It's my favorite Indiana Jones film, with a footnote that "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is the "best" because it's so beautifully made. Shot-for-shot, "Raiders" is a perfect example of how to make an action movie.

I'm not sure why "Temple of Doom" is a prequel. Some have said that it was a way to avoid Nazis, but I think that Lucas and Spielberg wanted to go back to a cynical Indy who doesn't really believe in the mysticism behind the artifacts that he seeks. It's all about "fortune and glory".

I really like Temple of Doom's second half; but I do check out during the first half.

Not a bad movie at all, though.
