It's part of the whole "coding" thing, which is really just projecting. They want their favorite movies to be more queer for the prestige and euphoria.
I've sperged about ti in the weebshit thread when some fat waifu bitch being able to see people as colors has been interpreted as her being lesbian by some reviewers (to which the director reacted with a sensible chuckle).
I guess this also explains that other thing where people are starting to accuse Disney of erasing queer people or something because their movies aren't literally about trannies.
