Re: Basements & Beards- Analogue Gaming Thread

With Nuestra Magia, we're celebrating the beauty, power, and history of the cultures of Latin America. Our inspiration came from across the region, with the concepts and art made by an all-Latinx cast of creatives and artists. This is where cultural legacy meets our love of Magic: The Gathering.
This collection’s diversity of styles, stories, and artists reflects Latin America’s cultural richness, which spans several countries and languages.
50% of the product price will be donated to The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC).

This will surely sell like hotcakes in their biggest Latin American market - which does not speak Spanish and whose only piece of Mexican culture it ever had contact to were El Chavo del Ocho and a handful of Mexican soap operas.

Fun fact: They abandoned the entire continent about two years ago when they closed their LatAm HQ. I'm not sure if this celebration the beauty, power, and history of the cultures of Latin America will actually get a release/localization in its home turf.

It's no secret that Humble Buck Bumble was pozzed for years, at the very end ditching their free Crono.gg project during the Coof.
Now they sometimes were and still are unsubtle with open pride fag bundles or getting donations for #BurnLootMurder, but now they think they're reeeeally subtle with their latest TTRPG bundle.
What's that? Root, Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, Cyberjunk, The Bitcher, Dr. Who, WarHamster Fantasy RapeLay, Dishonored, Avatar? Great deal? Then why are the infamous 9th Level gaymes from the recently pulled Rebel Scum included?
And I bet the innocent children's hospitals actually support sneaky HRT treatment and/or money laundering for Jizzards of the Cucks, as seen in their top donors.

Rebel Scum is included because these RPG bundles always com with dozens of dumb shit you would rightfully never touch otherwise.
Might make a deep dive of the shit offered later, but so far everything except Savage Worlds looks like trash

Re: Basements & Beards- Analogue Gaming Thread
Let's do this.
Bundle Review ExtravaganzaShow
Everything reviewed in order. Whenever I recommend an alternative RPG, you can probably mentally add "just play Savage Worlds".
Avatar Legends: Apocalypseshit aka shit in general. Could be moderately useful for a different aka better RPG if you just buy it for the fluff.
You're probably better off with something like Art of Wuxia or Legend of the Wulin.
Transformers: Uses "Essence 20" like all the other Hasbro RPGs (Transformers, GI Joe, Power Rangers and of course MLP), which is some bastardized fork of d20 that is too generic to work well for any of these IPs. In Transformer's case it leaves the vehicle modes very anemic.
You're probably better off with Cartoon Action Hour, which can also do all the other Hasbro RPGs because this is the exact type of shit it was designed for.
Modern AGE: The d20 Modern fork fork of the D&D fork Fantasy AGE which in turn used to be the Dragon Age RPG until Green Ronin lost the license (except now the have the license back for extra confusion). I guess it's slightly less broken than Fantasy AGE (which has hilarious HP bloat for both players and monsters), but that's about it.
Apocalypse World (2nd Ed): Fuck this game, and the various hellspawns it helped create.
(Though if you wanna play in the post-apocalypse there's the upcoming Ashes Without Number to consider.)
Cyberpunk RED: Using a slightly touched up version of their ancient Interlock System. I guess you could do a whole lot worse, but it's not the fanciest system.
Deadlands & Savage Worlds: Savage Worlds is actually pretty gud, though the current version of the Deadlands settings got ravaged by woketards who kept bitching and moaning that this alt history Weird West setting had the South survive the Civil War
Warhammer RPG (4e): Not terrible, but you're probably better off with the less obtuse 2nd edition, or even better yet a superior percentile system like Mythras.
Spire: What if Drow were marginalized Antifafags? Really?
Punk is Dead: Compatible with Mörk Borg? Next.
The Wildsea: Terrible narrative RPG which follows the typical Current Year doctrine of making the player races largely identical - which is extra weird in a game like this where the races are very different and alien. But no, they're pretty much interchangeable.
Dishonored: Like all Mödiphius games it uses their in-house system, which is effectively a Fate fork. Actually a pretty decent narrative system for shit like Star Trek. No idea about Dishonored though, because I never cared about that franchise.
Mazes Fantasy Ropeplaying: It's the fantasy RPG of the Rebel Scum folks. Fuck this noise.
They Came From Beneath the Sea!: Probably the weirder branch of the World of Darkness family tree. Haven't checked it out, but B-movie shlock always sounds fun.
Call of Cthulhu (7e): The worst edition so far. Converting shit form older editions has some annoying extra steps, and you want to convert from older books because all of the 7th edition books are insufferably woke.
You're probably better off with Cthulhu Reborn - which is even free, no less.
Shield Maidens Gamemaster's Guide: Hey, look. It's Mongoose's original IP which literally no one gives a shit about. How do you fuck up space opera meets Norse mythology? Well for starters the scope is narrow af. All players are stronk womyn (with or without penis) using some fancy magitek shield. That's it. The setting's also not very interesting because the main bad guys are just cartoonishly evil and of course primarily white cis het men.
Youre definitely better of with When The Wolf Comes, which is a Norse space opera RPG that is actually diverse, manly and metal af.
Household: A game where you play fairy and everything takes place entirely within an abandoned human house? Sounds interesting, but also gay.
I also wonder if they borrowed some ideas from Noumenon, the kafkaesque RPG where the players find themselves reborn as humanoid bugmen in a metaphysical mansion full of weird shit. I wish I was joking.
Night's Black Agents: Actually kinda cool for a detective RPG. It has vampires, and there's even the campaign The Dracula Dossiers which is effectively a sequel to Bram Stoker's classic novel.
Dragonbane: A fork of RuneQuest, including ducks, so it's good shit.
Cypher System Rulebook: Never by anything by Monte Cook. Dude is one of the biggest hacks in the industry.
Root: It's Apocalypse world, aka boooring.
G.I. Joe: Same system as the Transformers one, with all the issues and recommended alternatives. Who the fuck ordered these books, anyways? Shouldn't they be closer together?
Threefold: A campaign setting for Modern AGE. I don't fucking know, man. And again with the random-ass order.
Under Hollow HIlls: An RPG about some circus? Okay? Also appears to be Apocalypseshit, so I ain't gonna touch this.
The Witcher: I hate that they made this instead of a new edition of Mekton.
Rifts Tomorrow Legion Player's Guide: Random order of the books aside, it's Rifts in Savage Worlds. Fuck yeah!
Doctor Who RPG (2e): 1st edition had some neat ideas, but then the 2nd edition came and dumbed everything into the ground. Good job.
Rhapsody of Blood: It pretends that it's Castlevania, but it's actually Apocalypseshit.
Though I admit the premise is neat (multiple generations of heroes raid Not-Castlevania to defeat Not-Dracula, only for one of the heroes to become the next generation's Not-Dracula)
Be Like a Cat: It's a game. Where you play as a cat. Okay.
Slugblaster: It's Forged in the Dark meets autism. Nope.
Homeworld RPG: Goddamit, Mödiphius. Is there anything you won't make an RPG out of?
Just use Traveller or one of the many forks.
Kobolds Ate My Baby: It's a party game. By the Rebel Scum guys. You know what to do.
Trinitiy Continuum: The other weird branch of the World of Darkness family tree. Originally meant as the universal core system for three different but connected settings (Aegis' space opera, Aberrant's capeshit, and Adventure's pulp), they've since added a ton of additional settings. It's kinda-sorta the closest thing the World of Darkness family has to a generic system.
Basic Roleplaying System: Percentile goodness. Though not quite as big an improvement over the older edition. Also I think Mythras is still better.
Shield Maidens Training Guide: LMAO, still no. And JFC who ordered these books?
Outgunned: An "action movie" RPG using a small d6 dice pool. I wish I knew more about it, but it looks interesting.
Mutant City Blues: Uses the same system as Night's Dark Agent, but it's about capeshit and not detectives. Not sure how that works considering the system is made for detectiveshit, but whatever.
Vaesen: I think this one is about tard wrangling fey. I guess it beats getting eaten by a Shoggoth again.
Tidal Blades: Uses the horrible Cypher System so you can have wild adventures in what sounds like Not-Pandora. Yeah~
Masks: It's Apocalypseshit meets capeshit. I've heard it's one of the less bad examples of Apocalypseshit, but it's still shit.
Power Rangers: Another Hasbro RPG. Yawn. Also interesting that this bundle doesn't have the MLP one to complete the collection.
Five and Infinity: It's a bunch of adventures for Modern AGE. FFS who ordered these books?
The King is Dead: It uses a deck of cards instead of dice. Yikes.
Castle Falkenstein: It's steampunk. Also uses playing cards, and is easily the oldest book in the entire lineup (1994!)
Pinebox Middle School: It's a Not-Stranger-Things setting for Savage Worlds. Personally I don't get why you'd wanna roleplay as a kid if there are neither magical girls nor giant robots.
Doctor Who Starter Set: I still don't care.
Goblin Quest: Another party game with what looks like webcomic art.
Be Like a Crow: A solo RPG where you're a... crow? I've got nothing.
The Neapolitan Trilogy: It's like a collection of mini RPGs or something. Those never suck
Dreams and Machines: It's Mödiphius' only original IP afaik, and nobody gives a shit about it afaik. I think it's like a ripoff of the Horizon series, except with even fewer white people.
Sentai & Sensibility: From our beloved Rebel scum folks comes this weird mashup of Power Rangers and the Regency era - or rather a twisted, politically correct version of the Regency era.
Scion Second Edition: Imagine Percy Jackson if Percy could eventually become a god. Has some fun shit and pantheons, though the second edition did some weird changes to the setting. I mean, how does Christianity even happen when the polytheistic gods being real was never a secret?
RuneQuest: The grandaddy of the precentile systems - now with 20% less white people!
(Just use Mythras.)
Shield Maidens Original Soundtrack: I guess it can't be worse the Dustborn
?
Memento Mori: It's like a road movie, except it's the 14th century and you're all dying from the plague. Okay?
Fear Itself: It's Night's Black Agents, except with Shoggoths instead of vampires I think.
Symbaroum: It's like some dark fantasy RPG which I know nothing about, except that it probably uses the Year Zero Engine.
The Devil's Dandy Dogs: It's glorified story dice. Amazing.
